LSR Events

LSR holds various different and engaging events  throughout the year for trainees and parents to participate in.  This includes  ski preparation tutorials, AGM, race organiser and volunteer sessions, parent evenings, social gatherings, etc.

These eventss will be posted here but for more information please visit the LSR Facebook page.

LSR Info Sessions

As lockdown keeps on progressing LSR are going to host several LSR Info Sessions for our trainees and parents.

These are FREE, other than the pain of being on yet another Zoom call.

These 60mins snapshot sessions are intended to give everyone an insight into the various elements of ski racing, from the different disciplines and their courses through to how a race day goes (indoor and snow races run different to dryslope).

The sessions will be hosted by LSR Coaches and a few LSR Committee Members.

So far, we have 4 sessions planned out, but we look to host a few more covering other topics as time goes on.

You can stick your name down for a session on the LSR ClassForKids Page (link has been emailed out) and we shall send out the Zoom details a few hours before.

If you have any questions for a specific session please send them to headcoach@lothianskiracing.co.uk letting us know which session it is for. This will allow us to keep to time and cover everything we need to, as well as giving us time to properly formulated answers in advance.

LSR Annual General Meeting

The LSR AGM takes place every year in October/November and does everything you would expect it to do.

The whole committee and head coach will be in attendance.

The AGM takes place while Thursday Night U10/12 training is running an we strongly recommend coming along.

LSR Ski Prep Tutorials

LSR runs these a few times throughout the year, normally in September and then again in March/April.  This means you can top up your knowledge or learn new skills for preparing skis at the start of the new season or before summer race calendar kicks off at the end of Aprils.

These sessions are taken by Malcolm Mckey, owner of Alpine Imports and parent to two well established LSR trainees (who are both on the Scottish Team 2020/21).

LSR Race Officials Introduction

LSR runs these a few times throughout the year, normally in September and then again in March/April.  This means you can top up your knowledge or learn new skills prior to the summer race calendar kicking off.

Races cannot happen without a whole raft of parental volunteers and we would strongly encourage as many people as possible to verse themselves in a host of skills.

Most of the "jobs" can be done with very little training, some require a bit more, but we would love to see as many people as possible chipping in.

LSR Parents Evening

Nothing as official as a school parents evening, this is more of a Q&A where parents and trainees can bring any questions, requests, recommendations, etc. to both the LSR Committee and Coaches.

Committee members and coaches will be present at answer any and all questions about anything, from kit recommendations  to explain what the difference is between BASS, BARTS, BISS and FIS points.

If you want to ask us to provide something, we are happy to listen.

LSR Social

Every year we try our best to hold and LSR Social.  This involves no skiing but allows everyone, parents and trainees alike to gather and just have a good time.

Normally hosted somewhere like Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, coaches will be on hand to organise and play games with trainees while socialising his high on the agenda.

This doesn't mean skiing is not the main topic, we are open to any and all dialogue, but mainly its just being an LSR family.
